The Galleria Borghese (Borghese Gallery) lets you in for two hours at a time, so it helps to know what's on offer before you go. Its audio guide comes in six languages. If yours isn't one of them, or you'd rather have the labels read to you, here is what helps.
Questions visitors ask
Can I take photos in the Galleria Borghese?
Yes, for non-commercial use, without flash, tripods or stands. The museum can ban photos in particular cases, such as loans in temporary exhibitions, which hang along the permanent route; check the signs in each room. galleriaborghese.cultura.gov.it: photos and video
Do I need to book, and is the visit really limited to two hours?
Yes. Every ticket must be booked, even free ones, with a €2 booking fee. Entry is on the hour and each slot lasts two hours; the 5.45 pm slot lasts 1 hour 15 minutes. The ticket office sells a few last-minute tickets from minute 20 of each hour, for a 1 hour 30 minute visit (1 hour for the last one, at 5.50 pm), but entry on the day is not guaranteed. Children up to 5 do not pay the €2 booking fee. galleriaborghese.cultura.gov.it: FAQ · galleriaborghese.cultura.gov.it: tickets

Under-18s from the EU, from countries with reciprocal agreements or with a regular residence permit enter free every day. Can I visit the Galleria Borghese in a wheelchair?
Yes. A stair lift to the left of the front steps leads to the ticket office, café and toilets, and the sculpture floor is fully accessible. The lift to the painting gallery upstairs is too small for large wheelchairs, so the museum lends a small one for the ride; call +39 06 6723 3753 before you go. Disabled visitors and one companion enter free. galleriaborghese.cultura.gov.it: accessibility (Italian)
Which entrance should I use at the Galleria Borghese?
Use the main entrance at the front of the Galleria Borghese, in the Villa Borghese park near the Via Pinciana gate. The ticket office, audio guide desk, café and toilets are on the level below the museum rooms, and the cloakroom is at the entrance, and entry to the rooms is only at the start of each hour. Visitors with reduced mobility take the stair lift to the left of the front steps to reach the ticket office, then start the visit at the rear door, Piazzale Scipione Borghese 5, which leads to the sculpture floor without stairs. The nearest bus stop is Pinciana/Museo Borghese. galleriaborghese.cultura.gov.it: accessibility · galleriaborghese.cultura.gov.it: info and FAQ · galleriaborghese.cultura.gov.it: services (Italian)
What is a good route through the Galleria Borghese in 2 hours?
In one 2-hour slot at the Galleria Borghese, start on the sculpture floor: Canova's Pauline Bonaparte (Room 1), Bernini's David (Room 2), Apollo and Daphne (Room 3) and the Rape of Proserpine (Room 4), then the Caravaggios in Room 8. Upstairs in the Pinacoteca, see Raphael's Deposition (Room 9), Bernini's two busts of Scipione Borghese (Room 14) and Titian's Sacred and Profane Love (Room 20), where a Titian exhibition runs until 8 December 2026. As a plan, allow about 15 minutes each for Rooms 1, 8 and 9, about 10 minutes each for Rooms 2, 3, 4 and 14, and about 20 minutes for Room 20, about 1 hour 45 minutes in all. In November 2026 the museum's online catalogue marked Raphael's Lady with a Unicorn as not on display. collezionegalleriaborghese.it: modern sculpture (room names) · collezionegalleriaborghese.it: Boy with a Basket of Fruit (Room 8) · collezionegalleriaborghese.it: Deposition (Room 9) · collezionegalleriaborghese.it: Bust of Scipione Borghese (Room 14) · collezionegalleriaborghese.it: Sacred and Profane Love (Room 20) · collezionegalleriaborghese.it: Lady with Unicorn (not currently exhibited) · galleriaborghese.cultura.gov.it: home (Titian exhibition, 20 October to 8 December 2026) · galleriaborghese.cultura.gov.it: accessibility (sculpture floor, Pinacoteca upstairs)
